Superheroes are a big part of our society. More and more people are becoming huge comic book addicts thanks to Hollywood features, like The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy. You can even see 60 minute shows from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D on ABC to Daredevil, Luke Cage and Jessica Jones on Netflix.
Superheroes might be born with their abilities or they may even get them from a freak accident. But there are some that get them from the insect world. These superheroes are generally well-known and famous for being insect-inspired in the comic book world.
The Human Fly
They might not be known by new comic book buffs, but are by the long-term ones. The Human Fly is in fact 2 characters, one was a super villain who battled Spiderman and the other was a hero who appeared in his own comic book series from 1977 to 1979. The daring Human Fly developed his strength after a car accident which left most of his skeletal structure being restored with steel. He had to go through years of healing and training to recover his strength. While doing this he grew extra stamina to be able to endure tough falls which drove him to evolve into a skilled acrobat, gymnast and proficient hand-to-hand fighter. The reason he is known as the Human Fly is because of his acrobat prowess.
Spiderman (Peter Parker) is one of the most popular superheroes, of today for his insect mastery. He was first introduced in 1962 and presently he is still fighting off crime. He fights various villains like Kingpin, Rhino, Lizard and Scorpion. Spiderman gathered his power from being bitten by a radioactive spider in a research laboratory. His superhero abilities contain strength, speed, stamina, perseverance and the increased ability to regenerate. But his most remarkable powers are climbing walls and ceilings with no problem and being able to spin and launch webs from his wrist. He pick up the name Spiderman from being able to climb walls, spider senses and hurling webs.
Ant-Man and The Wasp
Marvel buffs know with Ant-man and Wasp. The Wasp was Ant-Man’s girlfriend and thereafter she would become his bride. Ant-Man is a intelligent scientist who developed his powers to talk with ants, reduce to the size of an ant or grow to an enormous size. Shrinking down to size doesn’t appear too intimidating but being tiny in size and retaining great strength sure does. Ant-Man also formed a formula for Wasp, which would allow her to decrease to size of a wasp, fly and launch bio-electric shocks to stun her attackers. Ant-Man gets his title because he talks with ants and Wasp due to her bio-electric shocks known as “sting”. These two have been well-known in fighting yellow-jacket, whom has similar abilities as the two of them.
Another growing super heroine is Black Widow. Black Widow is a master assassin who is very intelligent and is great in hand-to-hand combat. She uses bracelets that discharge electrostatic bolts that are known as the “widow’s bite”. Due to government treatment she has been known to age slowly and she also has an increased immune system. You can see her in all The Avengers Movies and most of the solo marvel movies.
